Europe was a Phoenician princess of unimaginable beauty, married to the King of Crete. Alas, this Royal marriage was not to last. The reason was the King of the Olympian Gods, Zeus. When he set eyes on Europe, he immediately fell in love. Europe had to be his and his alone. So he turned himself into a mighty bull and abducted Europe. Together, they traveled wide and far, across a continent destined to be named after this fabled beauty.

Inspired from one of the artist’s work of Mary Papkonstandinou pieces , based on the theme of Europe’s abduction by Zeus; In this particular piece, the pattern focuses only on Europe.
